About the Founder

Shane Ohann is a PhD Candidate in Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Research at Western Sydney University, with a strong focus on neurodivergence and inclusive support systems. He also holds a Master of Research in Applied and Developmental Psychology and a Bachelor of Community Welfare (Social Science & Psychology), grounding his work in both rigorous research and real-world practice.

"Neurodivergent individuals thrive when supports are collaborative, strengths-based, and genuinely inclusive."

Academically, Shane has worked as a Research Associate and Casual Academic at Western Sydney University, supporting literature reviews, early scoping studies, data synthesis, and the delivery of inclusive teaching across the social sciences and health disciplines. Shane's research and teaching are informed by evidence-based frameworks, developmental psychology, and lived-experience perspectives, with a particular interest in translating research into practical, accessible supports.

With nearly 10 years of frontline experience working with neurodivergent children and adolescents and advanced academic training, Shane bridges the gap between research and real-world support. Through his role at Northcott Disability Services, Shane has collaborated closely with individuals diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities, assisting with daily living skills, vocational training, employment pathways, and community participation. Shane's work has included overseeing work-experience placements and developing family-inclusive community programs that promote independence, confidence, and social connection.

Beelieve in You

Shane is also the founder of Beelieve in You, a long-running social advocacy initiative supporting children and families experiencing mental health challenges. Through this platform, he has built online communities, collaborated with parents and professionals, and promoted early intervention, empathy, and mental health literacy.

Shane's work is driven by a belief that neurodivergent individuals thrive when supports are collaborative, strengths-based, and genuinely inclusive. Shane is deeply committed to bridging the gap between research, lived experience, and practical support by creating systems that recognise potential, dignity, and individuality.
